Invisalign is an advanced type of orthodontic treatment that straightens your teeth and jaw with a series of clear and removable aligners.
The aligners are made of SmartTrack®, a special type of plastic that’s free of gluten, BPS, and latex. Their unique composition ensures that treatment is safe for those with allergies and pregnant people.
Advanced Dentistry uses Invisalign to correct various alignment issues, including:
You might also benefit from orthodontic treatment with Invisalign if you have crowded, crooked, or overlapping teeth.
Before recommending Invisalign treatment, your Advanced Dentistry provider reviews your dental records, asks about your goals, and performs an oral exam. They also take a series of X-rays to assess the alignment of your teeth and jaw.
If your provider determines that you can benefit from treatment, they take digital impressions of your mouth with an iTero® intraoral scanner. Your provider uploads the scans to a computer design program and develops a custom orthodontic care plan that maps out the precise movements of your teeth and jaw.
After finalizing the treatment plan, your provider sends it to a nearby Invisalign lab. Then, technicians at the lab use the treatment plan to design and manufacture your first set of aligners.
During treatment, you visit the Advanced Dentistry office every few weeks for checkups. At each visit, your provider performs an oral exam and monitors your progress. They also have you change into a new pair of Invisalign aligners. Each pair of aligners places slightly different pressure on your teeth and jaw, improving their position.
The time that Invisalign treatment takes depends on various factors, including your age, the alignment issues addressed, and how closely you follow the treatment plan. Most people achieve a more balanced smile within 12 months*, but it may take 18 months or longer.
To reduce the risk of complications, wear your aligners for 20-22 hours a day, only removing them to eat or brush your teeth. You can prevent the buildup of food particles and plaque by rinsing your aligners in cool tap water several times a day and brushing them gently with a toothbrush before going to bed.
