What are All On 4 dental implants?

All On 4 dental implants are small titanium posts that your Advanced Dentistry provider inserts into your empty tooth sockets during an outpatient procedure.

All On 4 implants are different from traditional dental implants in that they can support an entire row of artificial teeth with just four posts. Traditional dental implants, on the other hand, require one post for each missing tooth.

Because All On 4 implants only need four posts, the placement procedure is quick and hassle-free. Recovery is also easier. In fact, you’re less likely to experience complications like infection or implant failure.

Who is a candidate for All On 4 dental implants?

Your Advanced Dentistry provider might recommend All On 4 dental implants if:

  • You’re missing an entire arch of permanent teeth
  • You have severely decayed or weak teeth
  • You have difficulty wearing dentures
  • You have enough jawbone to support them

After an oral exam, a review of your dental records, and a series of cone-beam computed tomography scans, your provider develops a custom treatment plan.

What are the benefits of All On 4 dental implants?

All On 4 dental implants offer various benefits, including:

  • Increased jaw stability
  • Improved bite strength
  • Better oral health

If you take good care of your dental implants, they may even last a lifetime*.

What does getting All On 4 dental implants involve?

At Advanced Dentistry, getting All On 4 dental implants takes three visits to the office.

First visit

If you’re missing all of the teeth on your upper or lower arch, and your provider determines that you qualify for All On 4 dental implants, they numb your mouth with a local anesthetic and place four titanium posts into small incisions in your gumline.

After the procedure, your provider writes a prescription for pain medication and antibiotics and provides care instructions.

Second visit

Several weeks later, when the implants finish integrating with your jaw, you return to the Advanced Dentistry office. Your provider takes digital impressions with the iTero® intraoral scanner and sends them to a nearby dental lab. Technicians at the lab use your impressions to design and manufacture a custom set of implant-retained dentures.

Third visit

When the lab finishes your implant-retained dentures, you visit Advanced Dentistry for the last time. Your provider attaches the dentures to your dental implants, polishes them, and explains how to keep them in optimal condition.
